Noah’s Ark

Tune: Muffin Man

Oh did you know that Noah built,

An ark that floats, an ark that floats?

Oh did you know that Noah built,

An ark that’s a great big boat.

Oh, safe inside Ol’ Noah’s ark,

Were two giraffes, were two giraffes.

Oh, safe inside Ol’ Noah’s ark,

God cared for two giraffes.

*Repeat using different animals and sounds.  Change number from 2 to 7 for clean animals and birds.

Noah Built a Big, Big Boat

Noah

Tune: Are You Sleeping

See old Noah, See old Noah.

Build his ark, build his ark,

To save all the animals.

To save all the animals.

From the flood, from the flood.

Hear him working, hear him working

Saw, saw, saw.  Saw, saw, saw.

Rat-a-tat-a-tat-tat. Rat-a-tat-a-tat-tat.

Bang, bang, bang. Bang, bang, bang.

Here come the animals,

Here come the animals,

Two by two, two by two.

Watch them come, watch them come.

Into the ark, into the ark.

Here come the kittens,

here come the kittens,

Mew, mew, mew.  Mew, mew, mew.

This is how they walk,

This is how they walk,

Into the ark, into the ark.

Noah Built the Ark So High

Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb

Noah built the ark so high,

Ark so high, ark so high,

Noah built the ark so high,

Just as God had said.

He gathered all the animals in,

animals in, animals in,

He gathered all the animals in,

To save them from the flood.

Then, God sent the rain one day,

rain one day, rain one day,

Then, God sent the rain one day,

And covered all the land.

It rained for 40 days and nights,

40 days and nights, 40 days and nights,

It rained for 40 days and nights,

It covered all the world.

A dove brought back an olive branch,

olive branch, olive branch,

A dove brought back an olive branch,

To show the land was dry.

God put a rainbow in the sky,

in the sky, in the sky,

God put a rainbow in the sky,

To be a sign for men.

Who Built the Ark

Tune: Traditional

refrain:

Who built the ark?
Noah, Noah
Who built the ark?
Brother Noah built the ark

Old man Noah build the Ark
He build it out of gopher bark
He build it long, both wide and tall
With plenty of room for the large and small

(repeat refrain)

In came the animals two by two
Hippopotamus and kangaroo
In came the animals three by three
Two big cats and a bumble bee.

In came the animals four by four
Two through the window and two through the door
In came the animals five by five
The bee came swarming from the hive.

(repeat refrain)

In came the animals six by six
The elephant laughed at the monkey’s tricks
In came the animals seven by seven
Giraffes and the camels looking up to heaven.

In came the animals eight by eight
Some was on time and the others was late
In came the animals nine by nine
Some was a laughin’ and some were cryin’

In came the animals ten by ten
Time for the voyage to begin
Noah said, “go shut the door
The rain’s started fallin’ and we can’t take more”

(repeat refrain)

Rise and shine, and give God the glory, glory.
Rise and shine, and give God the glory, glory,
children of the Lord.

children of the Lord. (Refrain)

The animals, the animals, they came in by twosies, twosies.
Animals, the animals, they came in by twosies, twosies,

Noah’s Song

Tune: O My Darlin’

God looked down upon the earth,

People lived so wickedly,

Just one man still loved the true God,

Noah and his family.

Then to Noah God gave plans,

For the building of a boat.

So when rain came,  all his family

And the animals could float.

Noah sawed and cut and pounded

as he worked upon the wood;

He was building a big boat

just like God said that he should.

All the people stood by watching

But Noah still obeyed

For he knew that God is holy,

and he didn’t dare delay.

God looked downed upon the earth,

and He saw a great big boat;

So he knew that His friend Noah

had it ready then to float.

Then to Noah God did say,

“I will take good care of you,

And I’ll bring to you the animals

they’ll go on in pairs of two.”

God then brought in cows and chickens

and he brought in two big cats,

dogs, and rabbits, all the monkeys,

lions, snails, and even bats.

There were birds and reptiles too,

all the creatures walked right in.

God then shut the door behind them;

soon the rain would begin.

Oh, it rained and rained and rained—

causing such an awful flood.

But the boat just kept on floating,

never stuck in any mud.

Oh, the rain just kept on coming

for forty long, long days;

Then at last God stopped the rain

and the wind and the waves.

When the water had all cleared,

and the land was green and dry,

Noah sent a dove out flying up,

Up into the blue, blue sky.

When the bird did not return,

it was time to leave the boat.

Then God promised with a rainbow,

“No more flood will cover earth.”

Noah Built the Ark

Tune: Camptown Races

Noah built the ark with a hammer and a saw,

a hammer and a saw,

a hammer and a saw,

Noah built the ark with a hammer and a saw,

He listened to the word of God.

Hammering and Sawing

Tune: The Wheels on the Bus

Oh the hammer in my hand

goes bang-bang-bang

 bang-bang-bang, bang-bang-bang

Oh the hammer in my hand

goes bang-bang-bang

Hammering on the ark.

Oh the saw in my hand

goes buzz-buzz-buzz,

buzz-buzz-buzz,

buzz-buzz-buzz,

Oh the saw in my hand

goes buzz-buzz-buzz,

Sawing on the ark.

The Animals Go in the Ark

Tune: The Farmer in the Dell

The animals go in the ark,

The animals go in the ark,

Hi-ho, the derry-o,

The animals go in the ark.

The bears go in the ark,

The bears go in the ark,

Hi-ho, the derry-o,

The bears go in the ark.

Note from contributor: Before you start this song, ask the children to pick animals. They will pretend to be the animals they pick.  Designate an area in your room to be the ark.  As you sing the song and name each animal, have the child that is that animal go into the “ark” acting like that animal.  For example, if a child picks a duck, when you sing, “The ducks go in the ark,” that child can waddle and quack as he goes into the ark.

Rainbow’s Promise

Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb

The rainbow is a promise,

Promise, promise,

The rainbow is a promise,

Sent from God above.

He says, “The storm is over,

Over, over.”

He says, “The storm is over,

I’m painting you my love.”

Rainbow

Tune: Itsy Bitsy Spider

Red and orange and yellow,

Green and blue and purple.

God made the rainbow,

Bright and beautiful.

Red and orange and yellow,

Green and blue and purple.

God made the rainbow,

Bright and beautiful.
