The Divided Kingdom

By Amanda Wilson

Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb

The United Kingdom had three kings,

Had three kings, had three kings,

The United Kingdom had three kings,

Saul, David, Solomon.

Then the kingdom split apart,

Split apart, split apart,

Then the kingdom split apart,

Israel – north; Judah – south.

Israel had 10 big tribes,

10 big tribes, 10 big tribes,

Israel had 10 big tribes,

Ruled by Jereboam.

Judah just had 2 tribes,

Just 2 tribes, Just 2 tribes,

Judah just had 2 tribes,

Ruled by Rehoboam.

Jeroboam & Rehoboam

By Amanda Wilson

Tune: Are You Sleeping Brother John?

Jeroboam, Jeroboam,

Evil king! Evil king!

He built golden idols,

He built golden idols,

Did evil things. Did evil things.

Rehoboam, Rehoboam,

Evil king! Evil king!

Because he did not,

prepare his heart,

To serve the Lord, to serve the Lord.

If You Love Me

Tune: If You’re Happy and You Know It

If you love me, you’ll obey what I command.

If you love me, you’ll obey what I command.

If you love me, you’ll obey,

In every single way,

If you love me, you’ll obey what I command.

Kings of Judah

Tune: Mulberry Bush

Nineteen kings of Judah,

of Judah, of Judah,

Nineteen kings of Judah,

And one queen.

Rehoboam, Abijah,

Asa, Jehoshaphat,

Jehoram, Ahaziah,

and Queen Athaliah.

Joash and Amaziah,

Uzziah, Jotham,

Ahaz and Hezekiah,

Manasseh and Amon.

Josiah, Jehoahaz,

Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin,

And King Zedekiah,

Nineteen kings and one queen.

Hezekiah Was Sick

Tune: Skip to the Lou

Hezekiah was sick, what did he do?

Hezekiah was sick, what did he do?

Hezekiah was sick, what did he do?

He prayed to God our Father.

God sent over the prophet Isaiah,

God sent over the prophet Isaiah,

God sent over the prophet Isaiah,

He said, God answers prayers.

God heard his prayer, what did he do?

God heard his prayer, what did he do?

God heard his prayer, what did he do?

God healed King Hezekiah.

Hezekiah: Loyalty March

Tune: Chanted like Army March

Hezekiah knelt to pray that God,

Would make their enemies go away.

God heard what Hezekiah said,

And struck the Assyrian army dead!

God takes care of me each day!

I show I love him when I obey.

God wants me to show loyalty.

I’ll stick with God and He’ll stick with me!

Motions for 2nd verse:

“God…”  Point up

“I show…”  cross arms over chest in hug

“God wants…” salute

“I’ll…” point up, point to self

Hezekiah Prays

Tune: Are You Sleeping?

Hezekiah, Hezekiah

Prayed to God, prayed to God.

Oh, save my people!

Please save my people,

Won’t you, God?  Won’t you, God?

Hezekiah, Hezekiah,

God heard you, God heard you.

He sent an angel, He sent an angel,

The army He slew, the army He slew.

Hezekiah, Hezekiah

Prayed to God, prayed to God.

Oh, save my life!

Please save my life,

Won’t you, God?  Won’t you, God?

Hezekiah, Hezekiah,

God heard you, God heard you.

He turned back the shadow,

He turned back the shadow.

He loves you!  He loves you!

Boys and girls, boys and girls,

Won’t you pray?  Every day?

Oh, God will hear you!

Yes, God will answer,

He’ll answer you!  He’ll answer you!

Joash – Rebuilding the Temple

Tune: Wheels on the Bus

The temple was built in Jerusalem,

Jerusalem, Jerusalem,

The temple was built in Jerusalem,

Solomon built the temple.

But then the temple got really old,

Really old, really old,

Then the temple got really old,

It was falling apart!

Joash said, “Repair the temple!”

Repair the temple, Repair the temple

Joash said, “Repair the temple!”

He built it up again.

Ahab the Evil King

Tune: Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush

by Amanda Wilson

Ahab was an evil king,

Jezebel, his horrible queen.

He wanted something he had seen,

He wanted Naboth’s vineyard.

“Proclaim a fast, set Naboth on high.

Get two men to start some lies.

Stone the man until he dies.

Then you can have his vineyard.”

Lying is a horrible thing,

Very bad for any king,

Jezebel was a horrible queen,

They killed poor Mr. Naboth.

The Tale of Jezebel

Tune: London Bridge

The rude and crafty, Jezebel,

An evil queen of Israel

The wife of Ahab, God’s word tells,

She worshipped Baal.

When Naboth wouldn’t sell his land,

The wicked queen devised a plan,

And Naboth perished at her hand,

She was evil.

Oh, Jezebel was looking down,

When Jehu sped into the town.

She lost her life and lost her crown,

Good-bye Jezebel!

Ahab – Do Not Covet

Tune: Are You Sleeping?

by Amanda Wilson

Do not covet, do not covet,

what others have, what others have!

You have many blessings,

You have many blessings,

Give God thanks, give God thanks.

Do not lie, do not lie,

Tell the truth, tell the truth!

Lying makes God angry,

Lying makes God angry.

Tell the truth, tell the truth!

Do not steal, do not steal,

Do not kill, do not kill!

Don’t be like King Ahab,

Don’t be like King Ahab,

Obey God, Obey God.

Josiah the King

Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb

by Ronda Duvall, last verse added by Amanda Wilson

Josiah was only 8 years old,

8 years old, 8 years old,

Josiah was only 8 years old,

When he became the king.

The temple was in disarray,

disarray, disarray,

The temple was in disarray,

He ordered it be cleaned.

That is when they found the Law,

found the law, found the law,

That is when they found the Law,

It was found by the High Priest.

He ordered Judah to repent,

to repent, to repent,

He ordered Judah to repent,

Return and obey God.

He broke all the idols down,

 idols down, idols down

He broke all the idols down,

And worshiped only God.

Josiah – Rolls & Rolls of Scrolls

By Amanda Wilson

Tune: Farmer in the Dell

Rolls and rolls of scrolls,

Rolls and rolls of scrolls,

Cleaning out the temple, they found

Rolls and rolls of scrolls,

Josiah read the scrolls,

Josiah read the scrolls,

He listened to the word of God,

Josiah read the scrolls.

Rock and knock the idols,

Rock and knock the idols,

Josiah broke the idols down,

Rock and knock the idols.

Heart, soul, and might.

Heart, soul, and might.

Josiah loved the Lord his God with

Heart, soul, and might.

Knock the Idols All Down

By Amanda Wilson

Tune: Give Me Oil in My Lamp

Knock the idols all down,

watch them burning, burning, burning,

Knock the idols all down and sing,

Hallelujah!

Knock the idols all down,

watch them burning, burning, burning,

as we’re cleaning, cleaning out the land.

Praise, the Lord God!

Praise, the Lord God!

He’s the one and only God we serve!

Praise the Lord God!

Praise the Lord God!

No more idols in the land.

It Is So Sad to Say

by Ronda Duvall

Tune: The Farmer in the Dell

It is so sad to say,

that Judah went away,

Into Captivity

‘cause they did not obey.

Where did they go?

Oh, do you know?

Into Babylon,

The Bible tells us so.

They lost their homes,

They lost their land,

If only they had obeyed God

Keeping his commands!

The temple was on fire,

The walls were all knocked down,

Judah was being punished,

‘Cause, their sins abound.
