Who is God? Your Little One Wants to Know

Who is God? Your Little One Wants to Know

Who is God?

Well, that’s a pretty BIG question, but the answer may be more simple than you may think!

When my first child was born, my Mom came to the hospital with a tiny Bible.  It was baby’s first gift and her most precious.  The gift of life.  With her tiny baby hands, she learned to pat the Bible, hug it, and turn the little pages.  Sometimes she would fall asleep with her little cheek pressed up against the Good Book and I would sigh, “Lord, may it always be so!”

As she grew, I learned an undeniable truth:

Little kids ask big questions.

Who is God?

From the infamous, “Why? But, why? No, really, why?” of a 4-year-old to the, “Mom, where do babies come from?” a few years later, kids are sure to ask tough questions about God and everything. So we need ready answers to satisfy their curiosity.

In addition to all the regular kid questions, church-going children also begin a barrage of theological questions from a young age!  It can be quite surprising and amazing!  Questions like, “Who is God?” and “Will I go to heaven?”.

As a parent, we need to be ready to answer the spiritual questions of our little ones and guide their hearts to begin their own journey of faith in the Lord.  To do that, we need some tools in our toolbox at-the-ready to address their concerns.  We want to help them know their Maker and their purpose in this world!

Who is God? book: Simple Answers to Big Questions for Little Ones

A Book for Toddlers: Who is God?

So, when my sweet little girl was a toddler, my Mom brought her a little homemade book called “Who is God?” that she had made herself.  In it, Mom typed out some of those big questions that come from the mouths of little ones along with some of the Bible facts we like to teach them in Bible class. Facts like, “how many books are in the Bible?” and “how do we talk to God?”

Over the years, our “Who is God?” book was passed down to little brother, then little sister. But, by the time a second little sister had come along, the book had completely fallen apart!  Pages ended up scattered all over the house, and we couldn’t find all of them to attempt to reassemble the book.  Sadly, it was not salvageable.

Since the youngest definitely needed this book, I decided to update Mom’s version with new graphics and fun fonts.  Then, I printed it out on thick card-stock for some added durability.

She loves it!  She wants to read it over and over.

That’s why today I’d like to share “Who is God?” for free with you and your little ones, so you can teach the next generation about God, too. Just one tiny tool in your toolbox!

…He commanded our fathers
    to teach to their children,
that the next generation might know them,
    the children yet unborn,
and arise and tell them to their children,
so that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God,
    but keep his commandments.

  2. This book looks like something my 2-year-old grandson would enjoy as he loves books and it would be helpful for when those questions come up.
