The Parable of the Sower

Tune: Mulberry Bush

Jesus taught some men one day,

men one day, men one day,

Jesus taught some men one day,

From a ship at sea.

Listen to the words I say,

words I say, words I say,

Listen to the words I say,

Listen now to me.

There was a sower went out to sow,

Went out to sow, went out to sow,

There was a sower went out to sow,

The seed, the word of God.

Some fell on the ground to grow,

Ground to grow, ground to grow,

Some fell on the ground to grow,

And sprang up from the sod.

But others fell along the road,

Along the road, along the road,

But others fell along the road,

These heard but were not saved.

Others fell on rocky soil,

Rocky soil, rocky soil,

Others fell on rocky soil,

These are those who fall away.

Some seed fell among the thorns,

Among the thorns, among the thorns,

Some seed fell among the thorns,

These bear no fruit today.

A Sower Planted Seeds

Tune: Beverly Hillbillies

A sower planted seeds,

He tossed them all around.

Pesky birds, scorching sun,

Tough thorns and rocky ground,

In good soil, seeds grew tall,

They grew for all to see,

God’s Word is the seed,

I’ll let it grow in me

The Sower

Tune: My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean

A man sowed a handful of grain seeds,

But birds came and gobbled them down;

Then he sowed more seeds, but they wilted.

The sun scorched their roots dry and brown.

Sun scorched…sun scorched….

The sun scorched their roots dry and brown.

Sun scorched…sun scorched….

The sun scorched their roots dry and brown.

He sowed still more seeds among thistles,

The weeds choked the small grains of wheat.

Then he sowed his last seeds in some good ground;

They made bushels of good grain to eat.

Good grain…good grain…

They made bushels of good grain to eat.

Good grain…good grain…

They made bushels of good grain to eat.

I want to be good ground for Jesus.

I’ll hear all the good words he sows.

I’ll do bushels and bushels of good things,

And make sure that His good seeds all grow.

All grow…all grow…

And make sure that His good seeds all grow.

All grow…all grow…

And make sure that His good seeds all grow.

Who is My Neighbor? (Good Samaritan)

Tune: Beverly Hillbillies

Who is my neighbor?

Here’s a story Jesus told:

A Priest, Levite, Samaritan,

Walking down a road:

They came across a hurt man,

“Whatever should I do?”

Good neighbors help everyone,

I should help out too.

The Good Samaritan

Tune: Mulberry Bush

Copyright Group Publishing, Inc.

There was a man by the side of the road,

There was a man by the side of the road,

There was a man by the side of the road,

And he needed help.

The priest, the Levite, or Samaritan?

The priest, the Levite, or Samaritan?

The priest, the Levite, or Samaritan?

Which one helped this man?

The good Samaritan helped this man,

The good Samaritan helped this man,

The good Samaritan helped this man,

And we can help, too!

The Good Samaritan

Tune: Oh, Susanna

Oh, if you love God with all your heart

Your soul, your strength, your mind

If you love your neighbor as yourself

Eternal life you’ll find.

Chorus:

Who’s my neighbor?

Should I help this poor man?

I must love my neighbor as myself and

help the best I can.

Oh there was a man from Jerusalem

Riding down to Jericho.

When some robbers came and beat him up,

Took his coins and all his clothes.

Well, a priest was riding down the road,

When he saw the wounded man,

“I’m too busy now to stop and help

I hope that someone can.”

Soon a Levite came along the path

And saw him lying there.

“Now I can’t touch him, he’s such a mess,

Someone else will give him care.”

A Samaritan came and cleansed his wounds

Then took him into town.

Where he paid the keeper of the inn

To help him get around.

When the priest, the Levite and the man

From Samaria rode by,

Only one of these was neighbor to

The man who nearly died.

The Good Samaritan Song

Tune: Wheels on the Bus

I was going down the road to Jericho,

Jericho, Jericho,

I was going down the road to Jericho,

With spices on my donkey.

Robbers jumped out and hit my head,

Thump-thump-thump, thump-thump-thump.

Robbers jumped out and hit my head,

Then I had a great big bump.

Robbers took my money and ran away,

ran away, ran away,

Robbers took my money and ran away,

They thought that I was dead.

I hurt so bad I moaned and groaned,

moaned and groaned, moaned and groaned,

I hurt so bad I moaned and groaned,

But no one heard my cries.

I heard a man go walking by,

Step-step-step.  Step-step-step,

I heard a man go walking by,

The priest would not be kind.

I heard another go walking by,

Step-step-step.  Step-step-step,

I heard another go walking by,

The Levite was not kind.

They just left me lying there,

Aching so, hurting so,

They just left me lying there,

Neither one gave care.

Then I heard a donkey trot,

Clippity-clop.  Clippity-clop.

Then I heard a donkey trot,

And a Samaritan yelled out, “whoa!”

The Samaritan held me in his arms,

Gave me a drink, bandaged my wounds.

The Samaritan was so kind to me,

Shared his donkey with me.

We went traveling down the road,

To an inn, for the night,

Then the Samaritan gave the man,

Some money to care for me.

Baa, Baa, Little Lamb

Tune: Baa, Baa Black Sheep

Baa, baa, little lamb,

Did you lose your way?

Yes, sir.  Yes, sir.  I was lost today.

Far from my shepherd, far from my home.

Far from my flock, I ran off alone.

Baa, baa, little lamb,

Did you lose your way?

Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I was lost today.

Baa, baa, little lamb,

Who found you?

My Good Shepherd, who loves you, too.

Left his flock of 99,

Looked for me with love so kind.

Baa, baa, little lamb,

Your Shepherd looked for you?

Yes, sir.  Yes, sir. And He found me, too.

Dear little children, does your Shepherd love you?

Yes, sir.  Yes, sir.  He loves you, too.

If we sin and go from Him,

Jesus brings us back to Him.

Dear little children, Your Shepherd loves you.

Yes, sir.  Yes, sir.  Yes, He loves you, too.

The Lost Sheep

Tune: Where O Where Has My Little Dog Gone?

O Where, O where has my little sheep gone?

O where, O where can he be?

I’ll search everywhere, over here, over there.

O where, O where can he be?

O I’ve found my lost sheep, am I ever glad,

I found him caught in a bush.

I didn’t give up till I found where he lay,

I’m happy, so happy today.

The Lost Sheep

Tune: This Old Man

Jesus looks for his sheep,

He sees two that are asleep,

There are 10 more little sheep

Very far away.

He will bring them back today.

Jesus looks for his sheep,

He climbs up the hill so steep.

He finds all his little sheep,

All of them but one.

His hard work is never done.

Jesus looks high and low.

Where did baby lambkin go?

He will look everywhere,

Until he finds his sheep.

He will bring it home to sleep.

The Prodigal Son

by Sharon Broome

Once a father had two sons
Then one left home to have some fun
The son wasted all he had
Then things got real sad
Feed me! Feed me!
The pigs all said.
The young son thought,
This is really bad.
I’ll go home say sorry
And I’ll work for my dad.

Oh, the father was so sad
Missed his young son oh so bad
Saw his son a far off
And he ran out the door
Welcome! Welcome!  the father said
Come back home and I’ll be your dad.
Come my son, come on in
Please don’t leave again.

The oldest brother had stayed home
Did what he should and he was bummed
The father killed a fatted cow
Why did he do this now?
I stayed! I stayed! the old son said.
A feast for me you’ve never had!
My son was lost but now he’s found
So let’s let love abound.

Ten Little Coins

By Carolyn Warvel

Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb

A woman had ten little coins,

Little coins, little coins.

A woman had ten little coins,

But lost one on the ground.

She got a broom and swept the floor,

Swept the floor, swept the floor.

She got a broom and swept the floor,

Until the coin was found.

Then she called to all her friends,

All her friends, all her friends.

Come and see what I have found

What was lost has been found.

The Wise Man Built His House

Tune: traditional

The wise man built his house upon the rock.

The wise man built his house upon the rock.

The wise man built his house upon the rock.

And the rains came tumbling down.

Oh, The rains came down and the floods came up.

The rains came down and the floods came up.

The rains came down and the floods came up.

And the house on the rock stood firm.

But, The foolish man built his house upon the sand.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand.

And the rains came tumbling down.

Oh, The rains came down and the floods came up.

The rains came down and the floods came up.

The rains came down and the floods came up.

And the house on the sand went SPLAT!

So build your house on the Lord Jesus Christ.

So build your house on the Lord Jesus Christ.

So build your house on the Lord Jesus Christ.

And the blessings will come down.

Oh, The blessings come down as the prayers go up.

The blessings come down as the prayers go up.

The blessings come down as the prayers go up.

So build your house on the Lord Jesus Christ!

The Wise Man & The Foolish Man

Tune: Ring Around the Rosie

(Note: Children hold hands and walk in circle.  Jump up and make muscle arms on word STRONG.  Fall down when the house falls.)

The wise man built his ho-use

Upon a solid ro-ock.

The rain came, the wind blew,

The house stood STRONG!

The foolish man built his ho-use

Upon the sinking sa-and.

The rain came, the wind blew,

The house fell down!

When I read my Bible

And do what it sa-ays.

I am like the wise man,

Who was so STRONG!

House Built on a Rock

Tune: Itsy Bitsy Spider

by Laura Nixon

A foolish man will build his house upon the sand.

Down comes the rain and water floods the land.

The wind begins to blow, and the house will fall.

‘Cause a house upon the sand just doesn’t stand at all.

A man who builds his house upon a rock is wise.

Even when the wind and water start to rise.

It will still be standing when the water’s gone.

And Jesus is the Rock we should build our life upon.

House Built on a Rock

Tune: Yankee Doodle

by Dee Leone

Once a wise man built a house

On very solid ground.

Through rain, through flood,

Through wind it stood.

Nothing knocked it down.

There also was a foolish man,

Who built his house on sand,

The wind and rain

Knocked down that house,

Built on shaky land.

I’ll Be Wise Like That

Tune: Beverly Hillbillies

The foolish man on the sand,

The wise man on a rock,

Both built up their houses

And then they got a shock,

When the rains came pouring down,

The fool’s house fell down flat,

The wise man builds on Jesus Christ,

So I’ll be wise like that.

The Parable of the Rich Man

Tune: Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross

Jesus told about a man,

Many riches had he,

He did not look up to God,

And say, “Thanks unto Thee!”

“Bigger barns, bigger barns,

I will build them for ME!

And I’ll say unto my soul,

‘Eat, drink, and be merry!”

On that night, the rich man died

Riches left behind him.

We should always thank our God,

And use our riches for him.

Boys and girls, boys and girls,

Jesus ever loves them,

And our Father up above,

Loved and helps his children.

Forgiveness Parable

Tune: Beverly Hillbillies

How much should I forgive?

Apostle Peter asked the Lord,

Seventy times seven,

And many, many more.

A king forgave his servant,

The servant did not,

Mercy and forgiveness,

They come from the heart.
