6 Fresh Kids Gift Ideas

Kids Gift Ideas: Stomp Rocket

1. The Original Stomp Rocket

Named the Top Toy of the Year by Creative Child Magazine, this super fun original Stomp Rocket by D&L Company is loads of fun!  Kids won’t even realize at first that they are experimenting with STEM concepts because it makes learning about gravity, force, pressure, and trajectory so much fun!

My kids thought this toy was awesome!  Just give it a lot of space – these rockets can fly up to 200 ft!  We tried it in the backyard (oops!) and landed a few well-placed rockets onto the neighbor’s roof.  Sorry!  Thankfully, it comes with 4 rockets and you can order more online.

One of the best features of the rocket blasting toy is that the stand can be turned to control the trajectory of the rockets.  So, kids can shoot them straight up in the air or angle it to shoot closer to the ground.

The responsive launch pad responds to a very slight, gentle push as well as holding up for strong, running leaps of pressure!  The kids enjoyed playing with it in multiple ways. They experimented with how varying amounts of pressure and minor changes in trajectory impacted the length of the rocket flight.

Perfect kids gift ideas for home use as well as educational settings!  Go load up some rockets and stomp away! You can purchase it here.

Kids Gift Ideas book: "What is Beautiful?"

2. What is Beautiful? By Abbie Sprunger

I’m a big believer in giving kids the gift of books for pretty much all occasions – and this one is a must-have to add to their bookshelf.  With gorgeous, unique illustrations by Ashley Lauren Snyder that really capture the whimsical nature of this book, the author explores the idea of what creates beauty for every young girl.

The answer to the title question?  Beauty is how God made you to be.  The book explains beauty as BE – YOU – T0 – THE – FULL by recognizing the uniqueness of how you were created and that you were made to delight the Creator who designed you. I love this message!

Kids Gift Ideas open book: "What is Beautiful?"

This wholesome and positive book provides a refreshing and encouraging biblical reflection on beauty for girls of any age – from little bitties up to teens!  The words are simple but powerful. Every young girl needs to hear this message and have it in a stunning book format like this so she can read it and hear it over and over.

SwaddleDesigns Kids Face Mask

3. SwaddleDesigns 3-layer Cotton Chambray Face-mask

So, it kind of looks like face-masks are here to stay for awhile! And, it may just be that your kids are getting pretty tired of the ones they own.  Why not buy some new, pretty ones as stocking stuffers this year?

Hands-down, SwaddleDesigns is my new favorite brand of face-masks!  Designed by a nurse who is also a mom, they are super soft and breathable.  This company is amazing because although known for their baby blankets, they converted their factories to produce masks during the COVID-19 crisis. How cool is that?

This face mask boasts two magical features: a built-in chin gusset to keep it secure on your face while also having a bendable nose piece.  Awesome!  This is brilliant.  Some of my other masks ride up on my face and smack my eyes or, alternately, slip down my nose and slither off my face.  This one stays on perfectly and is amazingly comfortable!

It is snug and yet somehow has a little pocket of air right around my nose and mouth so my lips don’t rub up against the fabric.  Fabulous!

And, did I mention, it is beautiful?  I absolutely love the pretty floral fabric.  Light and airy, comfortable, and effective!  Just what I had been looking for! It also comes in several solid colors.

I personally tried out an adult size M designed to fit small adults and teens. Loved it! My 6 year old can comfortably wear the child’s size.  Amazingly, my 14 year old daughter can wear the child’s size, too.

100% cotton with 180-thread count, these are machine washable but boast an impressive superior droplet protection so you can keep your kids safe and comfortable.  Check out this lab test video for this kids gift idea! You can purchase face masks for your kids and yourself here.

Kids Gift Ideas - Smart Felt Toys "My Little House"

4. SmartFelt Toys – My Little House

I can’t say enough great things about this award winning kids gift idea!  Earning the Top Toy of the Year for Creative Child Magazine in 2018 as well as named one of the 10 Best Dr. Toys and Top Ten PAL toys, this felt playhouse is super fun!

The kit contains a foldable, reversible house with felt walls.  It velcros into a 3-D house shape measuring an impressive 13 x 13 cube. When assembled the peaked roof measures 15 in. tall but it can also lay flat for play. This is much bigger than I had imagined but folds up into the box for easy storage!

It comes with 37 felt pieces of furniture that stick magically to the walls.  The outside of the house is blue with a front door and windows.  The inside of the house is divided into eight rooms. There’s a parent’s room, a child’s room, a baby nursery, kitchen, family room, study, bathroom, and dining room.  The 37 pieces are color coded to match the different rooms and show the outline of where each piece goes.

Designed for children ages 3 and up, I have to admit that my 2-year old was completely enthralled. And the best part? It also held the attention of my 6-year old!  That’s a win!

My toddler enjoyed matching the felt pieces with the corresponding shape in each room.  Looking at all four walls was a bit overwhelming for her, but the house folds up so I could easily present her with only 1 or 2 sections at a time.  She loved putting on the pieces like a puzzle!  Besides matching, she was learning awesome language skills like object names, colors, spatial words, and receptive and expressive language as she listened and tried to repeat each object.  No surprise that it was designed by a speech therapist!

On the other hand, my 6-year old also totally loved this toy!  She was much more interested in using it for storytelling.  Her only criticism was that there were no felt people to sleep in the beds.  Never fear!  She ran to get some from another set we have, and she spent several hours (really!) first decorating the house then engaged in imaginative play. She imagined conversation and dialogue, then creating problems and invented solutions. This kids gift idea is totally kid-approved.

As a teacher, this product would make a fabulous addition to early childhood classrooms and speech therapy settings.  As a mom, I love that my kids completely adored this toy! I knew they were learning and stimulating their imaginations while honing essential language skills.

Kids Gift Ideas - RED chocolate bars

5. RED Chocolate

Oooh!  Chocolate – yum!  This is another super smart stocking stuffer choice you won’t regret!  Made by the best European chocolatiers, this amazing brand of chocolate has managed the near impossible!  Each delectable chocolate bar is gluten free, vegan (dark chocolate flavors), made of all natural ingredients, no cocoa oil substitutes, and no preservatives.  Whoa! And the best part?  With no sugar added, they’ve managed to reduce the calories by 50% of a regular chocolate bar.  Amazing!

Wait!  You may think with no sugar added that these chocolate bars taste bitter, but they’re actually quite scrumptious.  They have a subtle flavor, similar to other European chocolates I’ve tasted, as opposed to the stronger flavor of American chocolate. They are super yum and only 100 calories or less!  Awesome kids gift ideas – and parents too! Guilt-free!

They are available in several varieties of milk chocolate and dark chocolate with scrumptious add-ins like macadamia nut, hazelnut, and orange flavor. My fav is the dark chocolate!

Kids Gift Ideas book - I Was Small but Now I'm Tall

6. I Was Small, But Now I’m Tall by Jennifer Degl

This is a sweet book written especially for preemies to celebrate their extraordinary start in the big world!  Written by a mother of a preemie, she retells the earliest days of a premature baby’s life. The story goes on to celebrate her growth and graduation from the NICU!

The text is super simple and just right for young children who will love to hear a story similar to their own. Especially if your little one started life in the NICU!

Admittedly, my favorite part of the whole book is the last few pages where the author shows real photos of her preemie. Today she is a tall, beautiful girl!

My two youngest girls enjoy reading this book so much that they keep dragging it all over the house.  In fact, I had quite the hunt finding it just to snap a few pictures for this blog! My toddler loves the pictures of the baby and my six year old loves the story and that the words are so simple she can even read some of them for herself!

Written in simple rhyming verse, this lyrical story is a lovely picture book of hope and celebration that will capture your heart.
