Valentine’s Day – Send a Simple Valentine to Your Kids!

Valentine for Kids from Parents

It’s almost Valentine’s day and that means you need a good idea for a Valentine for kids you love! This year make your kids (and spouse!) feel extra loved with a simple 5-minute Love Notes on the Door activity they will cherish for a long time!

Just how long, you ask?  Well, I did this with my kids two Valentines ago and they STILL refuse to remove them from their doors.  Really!

Of course, as parents we all love our kids, but what a treasure to surprise them by telling them exactly what kinds of things you love about each one of them uniquely!  It doesn’t have to be a big production or anything fancy.  This sweet and simple 5-minute Valentine to kids activity wins the day!

Everyone likes to feel appreciated, and kids especially need to feel that love from their parents! (But it’s a great valentine for spouses, too!)

Materials for Simple Valentine to Kids:

Not much prep is needed for this activity!  Here’s all you need – most of it is already laying around your house.

Directions:

  1. Print the big heart FREEBIE (or draw your own).  It says, “What I love about you”
  2. Grab a pen.  Write 12-15 words, each one on a separate sticky note.
  3. Tape the heart to your child’s bedroom door.  Do it at night after they have gone to bed!
  4. Stick the sticky notes around the outside of the heart.

Valentines to Kids – What to Write?

Spend a few moments contemplating each child’s strengths God has given them and the blessing they are to you and others around them.  What makes your kid tick?  When do their eyes light up?  What makes them bounce up and down in delight?

Maybe consider your child’s recent victories like becoming a new reader or doing well in math and add words like “Reader” or “Multiplication Master”. Little achievements are a big deal!

Praise them for the small things they do every day that often go unnoticed – their sharing spirit, patience, obedience, or gentleness. Sometimes those things go quietly by without much fanfare.  Now is the time to show your appreciation with this Valentines to kids!
