meet maestra Mom

hi

Hi friend!  I’m Amanda, the voice behind Maestra Mom.
I’m a former elementary public school teacher turned homeschool mom of four who is passionate about teaching kids the Bible, helping families homeschool with confidence, and creating engaging learning resources for young children.

My bilingual students used to call me Maestra, my kids call me Mom – and here online, you get both.

If you’re a parent, homeschool family, teacher, or Bible class teacher looking for simple Bible songs for kids, practical homeschool help, and encouraging parenting support, you’re in the right place.

Want to know more about my story and why I left the public school system?

My Story

Teaching has always been part of who I am.

I’ve taught in:

  • Public elementary schools

  • Homeschool co-ops

  • Bible camps and Bible class

  • Early childhood classrooms (Pre-K & Kindergarten)

  • Teacher & adult trainings

Today, I’m blessed to be a stay-at-home homeschool mom — but I’ve also worked full-time and part-time, so I understand the real-life juggle of work, family, and education.

I believe children thrive when learning is:

  • Joyful

  • Engaging

  • Faith-centered

  • Developmentally appropriate

And whether your child learns at home or in school, I’m here to encourage and equip you along the way!

My Journey in Education

Teaching children has been part of my life for many years – both inside the classroom and now at home with my own kids.

Before becoming a homeschool mom, I spent 14 years in public education teaching:

  • Bilingual Pre-K

  • Kindergarten

  • 3rd Grade

Those years shaped my love for hands-on learning, early literacy, music in education, and meeting children right where they are.

For the past decade-plus, I’ve been homeschooling my own children – learning firsthand what works (and what doesn’t!) in real family life. Homeschooling has deepened my passion for helping parents feel confident as they teach their kids at home and grow in faith together.

My academic background includes studies in psychology, Spanish, education, and educational leadership, which continue to influence how I create resources that are practical, developmentally appropriate, and supportive for both kids and parents.

But more than anything, my greatest classroom is now my own home – walking alongside my kids as they learn, grow, and discover God’s Word.
